During lunch time on March 1st, nine women’s organizations and their supporters came together to share hot soup, coffee and cupcakes outside Place des Arts in a festive atmosphere. The crowd was large and enthusiastic despite the cold, gray weather.
Organized by Gaz Métro, Soupe pour Elles is a community movement supporting nine Montreal organizations that help women in need, including the Old Brewery Mission’s Patricia Mackenzie Pavilion, part of the largest resource for homeless women in Canada.
The initiative is spearheaded by Sophie Brochu, President and CEO of Gaz Métro and spokesperson for the campaign, who successfully brought together several corporate and community partners for the cause.
All proceeds are equally distributed to Le Chaînon, Auberge Madeleine, Maison Passages, Patricia Mackenzie Pavilion, Maison Marguerite, Chez Doris, La rue des femmes, Logis Rose-Virginie and La Dauphinelle.
The campaign is open for donations until no later than International Women’s Day, March 8 2017!
