Résidence Bash Shetty

The Old Brewery Mission celebrates a major milestone with the inauguration of the Residence Bash Shetty, formerly known as Les Logements du Parc, on the occasion of the pavilion's first anniversary.

The inauguration was attended by dignitaries including Lionel Carmant, Quebec Minister responsible for Social Services, Rachel Bendayan, Parliamentary Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Canada, Karine Boivin Roy, Member of Parliament for Anjou-Louis-Riel, Robert Beaudry, city councillor for the district of Saint-Jacques and executive committee member responsible for urban planning, OCPM and homelessness at the City of Montreal, and Benoit Dorais, executive committee vice-president responsible for housing, real estate strategy, property assessment and legal affairs at the City of Montreal.

In renaming the pavilion in his honour, the Old Brewery Mission also acknowledges the exceptional commitment of Mr. Bash Shetty, for his generous donation of $1 million to the organization. The Old Brewery Mission would like to express its gratitude for this significant personal gesture, underlining the crucial impact it will have in efforts to support people experiencing homelessness in Montreal. It's an initiative that we hope will inspire other Montrealers to become more involved in this vital cause.

The Résidence Bash Shetty was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Government of Canada, through the Rapid Housing Initiative (RHI 1), as well as the Community Housing Transformation Centre. In addition, residents benefit from the provincial government's Rent Supplement Program, reducing their contribution to only 25% of their income for rent.

Acquired by the Old Brewery Mission in 2021, the building was renovated and opened on May 1st 2023 to house men who have experienced or are at risk of homelessness, offering them long-term residential stability.

The Old Brewery Mission is grateful for the commitment of the private, government and community sectors in addressing this major social issue.
